Abstract

489,509. Pipe joints. LARSEN, K. A. F. Feb. 4, 1937, No. 3355. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint of the kind in which a sleeve 10 of bituminous material or the like which becomes plastic when subjected to heat is mounted in the socket and heat is applied after the spigot is introduced, the sleeve is cylindrical and extends the whole depth of the socket which is without internal grooves or recesses. The socket and sleeve may each be in two parts. In a connection for a pipe 5 passing through a floor 6, the two-part socket 9 is applied round a tube 7 fixed in an opening in the floor. The reduced extension 11 of the socket is clamped on to the pipe. A groove 12 contains packing.
