Abstract
In an X-ray tube of the kind including a rotor structure required to be degassed by heating during the manufacture of the tube, the bearing surfaces which support the rotor are made of a precipitation hardened alloy having an ageing temperature above or not much below that necessary to degas the rotor structure. Examples of iron alloys are described containing (1) 30 per cent of cobalt, 23 per cent of tungsten, 1,5 per cent of vanadium, and 0,2 per cent of manganese, and (2) 18,5 per cent of tungsten, 4,5 per cent of chromium, 1,75 per cent of vanadium, 1 per cent of molybdenum, 9 per cent of cobalt, and 0,77 per cent of carbon. British Specifications 14892/13, [Class 39 (i)], 279,490, [Class 82 (i)], and 390,944, and U.S.A. Specifications 1,917,723 and 2,012,890 are referred to.
