Abstract
Sintered hard alloys consist of 95-99 per cent of tungsten carbide and 1-5 per cent of one or more carbides which do not dissociate in contact with tungsten carbide at high temperatures, such as of tantalum, molybdenum, niobium, and titanium, there being no addition of low melting point metal. The alloys may be made by finely grinding the carbides together, pressing, and heating in a reducing atmosphere to 2100-2300 DEG C.
