Abstract

A coagulable liquid containing, for example, casein, viscose, cuprammonium cellulose or cellulose acetate, is extruded into a coagulant, and the thread formed is stretched in the presence of a hot liquid and thereafter cooled before collecting or cutting to form staple fibres. Cooling may take place by passing the thread through an aqueous bath, or around one or more rollers, at a temperature below 30 DEG C. Specification 289,028, [Class 120 (iii)], is referred to.
