[Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group XI] Solid fuel passes from the pipe 1 to the grate and distributer 3 which is water-cooled and has attached to it a. base 6 also water-cooled. Air passes up into the opening beneath the dome-shaped grate and through orifices such as 8 between the dome and the base. The water-jackets of the grate system are connected with the system of the domestic supply or other apparatus heated from the grate. The pipe 1 can also be water-cooled, the grate may be made up of a plurality of superposed elements and the base may have an upturned lip to prevent fuel falling off.
