Abstract
487,097. Depilating skins. WALLERSTEIN CO., Inc. May 28, 1937, No. 14832. Convention date, June 26, 1936. [Class 76] Hides and skins are depilated by treatment with an alkaline material, e.g. lime or caustic alkali, with the addition of hydrosulphites, sulphoxylates or their organic derivatives. Additional agents such as amines, sulphides of sodium and arsenic and proteolytic enzymes may also be present, e.g. after treatment in a solution of caustic soda and sodium formaldehyde hydrosulphite or sulphoxylate the bath may be partially neutralized and a bacterial enzymatic solution added. Antiseptic agents may be added to the baths.
