Abstract

There are added to lubricants products obtained by condensing, below 0 DEG C. and in the presence of a catalyst, iso-butene, iso-pentene, mixtures thereof, or cracking gases containing them with halogen-substituted olefinic hydrocarbons containing more than one double bond, e.g. chloroprene. Catalysts specified are Florida earth, boron trifluoride, hydrofluoboric acid, aluminium chloride, aluminium chloridenitromethane complex, and benzoyl peroxide. In an example: iso-butene is condensed with chloroprene at -80 DEG C. in the presence of boron trifluoride, and 4,4 per cent by weight of the product is added to a turbine oil. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers in general to olefines of low molecular weight, specifying additionally propene and 6-butene, and to the use of temperatures above 0 DEG C. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:There are added to lubricants products obtained by condensing, below 0 DEG C. and in the presence of a catalyst, iso-butene, isopentene, mixtures thereof, or cracking gases containing them with halogen - substituted olefinic hydrocarbons containing more than one double bond, e.g. chloroprene. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers in general to olefines of low molecular weight, specifying additionally propene and n-butene, and to the use of temperatures above 0 DEG C. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
