Abstract

484,338. Lifting and positioning aircraft propellers. DOREY, R. N., and BELLAMY, R. A. Jan. 28, 1937, No. 2512. [Class 78 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXIII] An aircraft propeller is positioned for assembling in the machine by suspending it from a hanging bracket provided with screw-mechanism for adjusting its inclination to align it with the shaft or bearing. In the form shown two curved brackets B<1> connected by spacing bolts B<2> carry split collars at their ends which can be clamped by means of the screws C<3> round two of the blades of the propeller near the root. The curved suspension eye E is threaded to engage the screw D and the propeller hangs with the hub A horizontal when the eye is at the right-hand end of the screw. By rotating the latter through the medium of the handle D3 the hub can be inclined to any desired extent up to the limiting position shown in Fig. 5.
