482,874. Photographic objectives. ZEISS, C., [Firm of]. Nov. 5, 1937, No. 30311. Convention date, Nov. 12, 1936. [Class 97 (i)] An objective containing a mirror lens comprises two exterior convergent members and an interior divergent member, the rearmost member being the mirror lens which has its concave side turned towards the divergent member. The distance l<2> between the front vertex of the mirror lens and the rear vertex of the divergent member is greater than the focal length of the objective. The radius of curvature of the reflecting surface r6 of the mirror lens is at least 1À25 times that of the refracting surface r<5>. The objective can be used as a, microscope objective by reversing the path of the rays, the object to be magnified being situated between the mirror lens and the divergent member and illuminated through an axial aperture of the mirror lens. Data are given for the system shown, having an aperture f /0À5.
