Abstract

481,263. Washing-machines. VANTHUYNE, C. Aug. 17,1937, No. 22623. [Class 138 (ii)] The plunger 12 is secured to a hollow shaft 1 which is simultaneously reciprocated and oscillated from a uni-directional shaft 2 through a crank arm 6 pivoted at 7 to the shaft 2 and universally jointed at 8 to an arm projecting from a sleeve 11 adjustably secured to the hollow shaft. The hollow shaft is closed at its upper end by a piston 15 carrying a one-way valve 16 and working in a cylinder 14. On the up-stroke of the piston air passes into the cylinder from a pipe 18 communicating with the washing vessel and as the hollow shaft descends, the air is forced through radial apertures in the shaft to the plunger from which it passes into the goods being washed.
