Abstract

520.017. Ironing-presses. GEORGE, H., and BROWN & GREEN, Ltd. April 24, 1939, No. 12236. [Class 138 (ii)] The buck 25 of a pressing-machine, particularly for ironing collars, cuffs and shirt yokes, is carried by a frame 24 pivoted at 26 to a ram 8. A link 27 is pivoted between a stationary pin 29 and a pin 28 on the frame 24. On admitting fluid pressure to the cylinder 6 from a valve 10, constructed as described in Specification 495,660, [Group XXIX], and operated by spaced manuals 14, the frame is swung and raised so that the buck coacts with the stationary head 3. The cylinder is exhausted by depression of a. treadle 13 which actuates the valve 10 in the reverse direction. Shock absorbers 31, 35 are provided to cushion the opening and closing movements of the press.
