Abstract

1471354 Ironing machine O BORDOGNA & C MacPI SpA 25 July 1974 [3 Aug 1973] 32818/74 Heading D1A An ironing machine for the shoulders and upper sleeve portions of a jacket, overcoat &c comprises two halves 4 of a garment form on opposite sides of a structure 1, each having a cut-out 5 under the shoulder, an extension piece 6, a pad 9 within the cavity horizontally movable as by a pneumatic cylinder to press the inner portion of the sleeve against the piece 6, and a pressing element 11 suitably mounted on a lever 12 which is both pivotable about a shaft 16 into alignment with the piece 6 and axially movable along the shaft to press the outer portion of the sleeve against the piece 6. The movements of the lever 12 are effected by respective pneumatic cylinders. A further presser member 14 vertically movable by a pneumatic cylinder 14' and conforming in shape to the upper portion of the associated half-form 4 presses the shoulder of the garment. The half-forms 4 and pieces 6 exert a heating action on the garment material and the piece 6 blows out steam as well as air to inflate the sleeve which is clamped at the cuff. The elements and members 11, 14 are adapted to heat the garment material and apply steam thereto. The procedure is to iron one shoulder and upper sleeve portion on a first half-form and then transfer the garment to the other half-form to iron the other side. The operations are controlled by pedals 15, 15'.
