Abstract

480,835. Firebridges. ESKE, F. W., and ALTENHEIN, E. F. 0. April 23, 1937, No. 11697. [Class 51 (i)] In a firebridge of the kind built up of a number of units having lateral projections to provide passages for the admission of air, steam or gases over the fire and having a concave surface at the front, the distance between the lateral projections when the units are assembled is greater than the thickness of the projections. As shown in Figs. 1 and 5, the firebridge is formed of units 3 having a concave face 4 and lateral curved projections 7 on both sides arranged in staggered relation. The projections may be arranged on one side only of each unit. The units are of increasing thickness from the bottom to the surface 4 and have thickened portions at 10. One of the projections 9 extends to the bottom. of the unit to divide the stream of air or gases &c. entering from the chamber 14 beneath the firebridge. The rear face 5 and bottom face 6 are provided with projections and recesses to engage with corresponding recesses and projections of adjacent units.
