Abstract
479,386. Vaporizers. BEITER, J. A. Nov. 23, 1936, No. 31989. [Class 7 (iii)] Heavy oil is supplied from a float chamber 14 to a reservoir 3 in which one or more grooved rings 4 are loosely mounted on a flange on a tube 8. The vibration of the engine causes the rings to atomize the fuel, which burns in a chamber 1 with air admitted through and around an inverted cup-shaped member 6. The main supply of heavy oil is drawn through bores 9 as the products of combustion pass down the heated tube 8 into a chamber 10 where carbon &c. is deposited. The engine suction draws the products and the heavy oil through perforated baffles 11 into a mixing-chamber 12, to which air is admitted past a, suction-actuated valve 17. At starting, light fuel is admitted to the chamber 1 and ignited by a sparking-plug 2.
