Abstract
479,183. Sectional boilers. FRANKE, K., and HERTEL, F. June 9, 1937, No. 15985. [Class 123 (ii)] In a boiler consisting of elements comprising flattened tubes 1 of lenticular cross-section forming four vertical walls of a furnace shaft and adjoining at their narrow sides, the water-conducting spaces of the elements are interconnected by hollow bosses at top and bottom to transverse pipes 2, 3 opening directly into collecting pipes 4, 5 extending across the furnace shaft and ash box from front to back of the boiler, and the elements forming one or both side walls have at the top gas passages 7 leading to flues 10 between them and additional rearward elements and opening into a discharge flues. The grate consists of parts 6, 6a integral with the collecting pipe 5 and transverse pipes 3 or separate and resting thereon. The walls of the elements, which are readily detachable, have semicircular corrugations. The front and rear elements of the shaft are connected by passages 3a to the transverse pipes, and openings for fuel and ash are formed in the front elements. The grate may consist of sections, each including a section of the lower collecting pipe and a transverse pipe.
