Abstract
478,753. Two-part couplings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and LANHAM, J. Sept. 22, 1936, No. 25744. [Class 38 (i)] In a switch socket member, a disc 10, arranged above the current-carrying socket tubes 4 and provided with a slot 11 through which projects the earthed socket tube 5, is rotated by the earth-pin engaging a cam portion 15, attached to the disc 10 and projecting into the tube 5. A catch 17, pivoted to a sliding carrier 18 on the switch 2, engages a notch 16 when in the "on" position, thus preventing rotation of the disc. Upon switching "off", the catch 17 and carrier 18 are moved into the dotted position and allow the disc to be rotated by the earth-pin, the currentcarrying pins passing through the hole 12 and slot 13 into the tubes 4. When the plug is removed, the spring 14 rotates the disc into its covering position, the catch 17 re-engaging the notch 16, if the switch is in the closed position.
