Abstract

478,563. Wall plugs. RAWLINGS, J. J., and RAWLPLUG CO., Ltd. April 20, 1936, No. 11229. [Class 89 (i)] A tubular wall plug is formed of fibrous material strengthened by the incorporation of wires arranged longitudinally in or helically around the plug or combined with strands of said fibrous material in such manner that parts of the wires are exposed on the outer surface of the plug. The wires may be cemented side by side with strips of fibre : or, they may be wrapped helically around individual fibres strands, plaited to form the plug or cemented side by side ; or, they may be wrapped helically around a plug formed of longitudinal fibre strands ; or, wires may be plaited with fibre strands, the strands and wires being twisted, if desired, in opposite directions; or, longitudinal wires may have fibre strands wrapped round them ; or, they may be wrapped helically in a zigzag fashion, as shown in Fig. 7, about fibre strands ; or, they may be interposed in zigzag fashion, Fig. 9, between fibrous strands. The wires may be made some of a soft metal or alloy and some of a hard metal or alloy.
