[Class 28 (ii)] A scouring device is produced by knitting a tubular seamless body of successive sections of a soft and absorbent vegetable yarn, such as cotton yarn, and a metallic strand or wire preferably in ribbon form and made of a non-corrosive metal such as copper, zinc, aluminium or the like. One or more lengths of the tubular body are formed into an approximately spherical body consisting of two or more plies of the knitted material, one half of the sphere being constituted by the soft mesh 10 and the other by the metallic mesh 11. The interior is filled with absorbent material 14 such as natural or artificial sponge.
