Abstract

Ropes made by special methods.-A rope or cord is formed of a core of manilla, sisal, jute or like cheap fibrous material and a braided cover of material such as cotton. The core 2 comprises a number of strands 4, each formed of twisted fibres, disposed parallel to one another, and the strands 6 of the cover 3 extend in the same spiral direction as the twisted individual strands 4, but at a wider angle to the core.
