Abstract

345,139. Flyers for twisting-machines. KRAFT, A., 27, Martinstrasse, Olpe, Wurtemberg, Germany. April 28, 1930, No. 12990. [Class 120 (ii).] In machines for twisting wire ropes and strands, wherein the wires are twisted by two flyers 3, 7, one arranged within the other so that it can be rotated in opposite direction to the other, means are provided so that, when twisting comparatively coarse wires, the inner flyer 7 can be held stationary in space, for imposing upon the wires taken up two twists per revolution of the flyer 3, or when twisting fine wire, the flyer 7 can be rotated, in space, in an opposite direction to the flyer 3, so as to obtain four twists per revolution. The flyer 7 is driven by gearing 16, 18 and, when the flyer 7 is to be held stationary, by a gear 15 carried by the flyer 3 and engaging a stationary gear 17. Alternatively, when the flyer is to be rotated in opposite direction to the flyer 3, a gear 34 carried by the flyer 3 is engaged with a larger gear 35 rotating with the flyer 3.
