Abstract

370,006. Confectionery ; packing. WHITE, S. M. and WHITE, HUDSON, & CO., Ltd., Globe Works, Shakespeare Street, Southport. Jan. 1, 1931, No. 14. [C.ass 28 (i).] A sweetmeat is made of a length 1 of sugar rock and simulating the shape of a natural leek, being of gradually tapered formation and having a larger bulbous end 2, the exterior being covered with a layer of white sugar throughout or with a layer of sugar the tint of which is white at the larger bulbous end and green at the tapered end. The uniformly white sweetmeat is provided with a green paper wrapping 8 at the tapered end terminating either in a fringed tuft of paper strips or serving tc hold in place a separate fringed tuft 9 of paper. An additional wrapping 7 may also be provided to effect a graduation of the green tint towards the tip and thereby simulating the smaller end of a natural leek. The exterior layer of the rock may be striated, as shown in Fig. 1, and it may have a cellular structure containing longitudinal cores 6, Fig. 2, of clear sugar.
