[Class 36.] A cable 3 having a rib 1 formed on a curved portion of its outer sheath has identifying matter 2 indented in the surface of the rib, the indentations not being greater in depth than the thickness of the rib. The indented matter may be coloured. Instead of extending parallel to the cable axis, as shown, the rib 1 may be disposed helically about the cable, or may be of sinuous form.
