Abstract
478,048. Winding and reeling. PARFITT, A. W. (McKay Machine Co.) Juno 1, 1937, No. 15185. [Class 83 (iv)] In an unwinding-apparatus the strip is fed by rolls 73 from the coil 56 about a roll 25 in a. path of opposite curvature to that of the convolutions of the coil. The roller 25 and a pressure roll 18 are mounted in a crosshead 15 raised and lowered by a piston 20 in an air cylinder 21. A rod 61 attached to the cross-head raised a pivoted table with recess 55 and wedge 57 for the coil. The latter is supported on an arbor 34 comprising rollers freely mounted on a piston and air cylinder 38. In operation, air pressure is applied to the cylinder 38 to withdraw the arbor, the coil is placed on the table 55 and pressure applied to the cylinder 21 to raise the rolls 18, 25 and the coil 56. The arbor is then positioned in the coil and the roll 25 lowered to force the strip into the path shown in the Figure.
