Abstract
477,855. Spring catches. SHOWELL & SONS, Ltd., E., PEARCE, A. J., and BRADBURN, H. G. July 24,1936, No. 20488. [Class 44] In a catch of the kind yielding to pull or pressure a cylindrical round-ended member 11 which engages with the usual catch plate, not shown, has adjustable screw-threaded engagement 11b with a spring-pressed sliding member 15 guided in a housing 14 with an aperture 14b through which a reduced shank 11a on member 11 extends. A spring 16 bears against the yoke of member 14 and against member 15 or an interposed washer 17. Member 15 is of annular form with ears 15a guided in slots 14e and removal of member 11 may be prevented by enlarging the end of shank 11a as shown. The periphery of member 11 may be milled to facilitate adjustment by hand. Member 14 is secured to the fixing plate 10 provided with screw-holes 10b, and as shown this is effected by providing the holes 10b with tubular burrs 10c which pass through apertures 14d in member 14 and are riveted over. Member 14 may be of simple bent strip form, Fig. 7 or may provide a cylindrical housing, Fig. 9, in which case the body has slits 14g to allow the ears 15a to be sprung into the slots 14e.
