[Class 74 (ii)] [Also in Group XIX] Relates to improvements in the stroboscopic devices for indicating the speeds of a plurality of threads or yarns passing through knitting or other textile machines described in Specifications 425,182 and 425,197, and consists in providing a single yarn-driven element 13 which is movable from one yarn to another at any position round the master indicator 6, the unit 13 being detached when it is not desired to observe the speed of the yarns. Each yarn passes down through a pair of eyelets 4, 5 in fixed rings 2, 3, Fig. 3, and to each in turn can be applied the disc 13 which is mounted in jewelled bearings in a bracket 18 adjustably secured on the ring 3 by a spring clip 20, positioning pins 21, 23 being provided to ensure the correct driving relationship for the yarn. Apertures are provided in the disc 13 and the master cylinder 6 for stroboscopic observation, the cylinder 6 being driven at a known speed adjustable by sliding the friction disc 7 on its shaft 9. The element 6 may be driven from the knitting-machine or it may be a separate portable unit having a clockwork motor. The yarn-driven element 13 may be attached to this portable unit.
