Abstract
476,067. Valve amplifying circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and ESPLEY, D. C. July 22, 1936, Nos. 20306/36 and 15891/37. [Class 40 (v)] In a television amplifier designed to amplify the D.C. component and to provide two outputs of opposite phase to give negative and positive pictures respectively, a pair of valves V1, V2 is connected up as shown in Fig. 1 (15891/37), and in order that the sum of the anode currents I1, I2 may remain constant to avoid " flutter " the following relationship is satisfied g2.R2.R3=(R1+R2) (1+g2r2), g2 being the mutual conductance of V2 and the remaining terms being the values of the correspondingly lettered elements in the drawing. In a modification shown by Fig. 1 (20306/36), in which a common resistance 8 replaces the resistances r1, r2, the necessary relationship is g2.R2.R3 =R1 +R2. Condensers 10 .. 12 and resistances 14, 15 are for decoupling. The input capacity C2 of the valve V2 may in both cases be compensated by shunting R1 by a capacity C1 such that R1.C1=R2.C2 or by providing an inductance. L in series with R2 such that L=.45 C2R2<2>. In a further modification, R4=O and accordingly only one output is provided. Specification 464,553 is referred to.
