Abstract

475,404. Hat - felting machines. BRUYERE, F. June 19, 1937, No. 17138. [Class 63] In a felting-machine having two rows of rollers, the rollers of one row are given the usual longitudinal reciprocating motion, but the rollers of the other row are positively reciprocated towards and from the rollers of the first row. The rollers 20 of the upper row slide through fixed bearings 21, and their spindles are connected each by a ball-and-socket joint 28, connecting rod 27 and eccentric with a shaft 25 rotated bv a belt 32. The rollers 5 of the lower row are supported by bearings 3 urged upwardly by springs 6 and reciprocated vertically, towards and from the upper row, by bell-crank levers 14, 14<1>, the levers of each pair being connected by a link 18 and actuated by an eccentric on a shaft 10 driven by a belt 31. Each roller is rotated by a worm wheel, the speed of rotation decreasing towards the outlet end of the machine. Co-operating rollers of the upper and lower run are driven at different speeds. Closely spaced auxiliary rollers at the inlet end form a feed table for the blanks. Auxiliary squeezing rollers are provided at the outlet end.
