Abstract
254,172. Haan, I. de. Nov. 17, 1925. Rolling machines.-In a process for rolling and doubling dough, the dough is passed successively between pairs of rolls, the rolls of any pair having a smaller circumferential speed and a wider normal and also maximum gap than those of the preceding pair. The dough 2 in a hopper 1 is stirred and distributed by rotary stirrers 3, and passes downwardly between the rolls of pairs 6 - - 9, one roll of each pair being displaceable against the action of a spring to a limited extent controlled by a screw bolt 10. The rolls are all of the same diameter and the driving gear therefor is so dimensioned that for one revolution of the roll 9, the rolls 8 make two, the rolls 7 four and the rolls 6 eight revolutions respectively. The maximum gap between the rollers of a pair is in the inverse ratio to their speed. the gap between the rollers 6 being 1 mm., and that between the rollers 9 being 8 m.m. The rollers are placed with the gap between one pair at some lateral distance from that between the next pair so that the ribbon of dough automatically becomes doubled or folded. The dough ribbon after passing between the rolls 9 is fed by a table 20 to the feed rolls 21 of a cake cutting machine. The waste from the cutting machine is led by conveyors 22, 23 to a shoot 24 from which it is fed to the rolls 9 and mixed with the dough ribbon.
