Abstract

268,618. Mohr, W. July 29, 1926. Stream-cutting machines; extrusion machines; rolling.-The invention consists in a machine for performing all the operations of dividing and working dough without manual contact therewith. The dough is fed from a hopper 14 by positively driven conveyer belts 22 supported by boards 25 and is divided by rotary cutters 27 and reciprocating wire cutters 44 as it issues through the openings 29. The severed masses of dough are deposited on the board 58 and intermittently fed forward to the working mechanism 70 and thence to the fermentation chambers. All the mechanism of the machine is driven from the shaft 1. The conveyers, of which five are shown are operated by the worm driven shaft 6, Fig. 3, and variable-speed cone pulleys 7, 9 and gearing 11. The belts are provided with studs for positive engagement with the cylinders and may be lined with metal. The severing wire 44 is carried by two roller-guided pivoted arms 40 reciprocated by links 36 and cam-slotted discs 33' on a second worm-driven shaft 32. The intermittent movements are effected bv a mutilated gear 48 on the shaft 47 driven by chain from the shaft 32. The shaft 50 is intermittently driven by the gearing 49, 49<1>, 48 and actuates the boards 58 by chain-wheel and chain 56 passing over rollers 60. The dough working cups are raised and lowered by levers 64 engaging the spindles 68 and reciprocated by the cams 61 on the shaft 47. When in contact with the dough the cups are rotated by the spindles and eccentric gearing. Cross pins in the spindles when lowered engage driving slots in bosses of the skew gears 71 driven by skew gear on the shaft 75 and bevels 76, 77. When inoperative, the cups are retained always in the same position by springs 83 connected to the conveyer case 15. The conveyers and working cups and other parts contacting with the dough are made of heat-insulating material. The size of the pieces is controlled by varying the relative speeds of the cone pulleys.
