Abstract

184,842. Fletcher, R. E., and Birch, A. April 23, 1921. Lap-forming apparatus.- In a combined draw and lap-machine the laps 3 are mounted transversely in the machine in two batches. The laps are passed through drawing-rollers 5, 6, and through guide-rollers 7 to a single curved guide-plate 8 which passes the combined lap to the lap-machine 10. The batches of laps may be arranged side by side, the combined laps from each batch passing through drawing rollers and over curved guide-plates to the lap-machine. The lap-machine is driven from the main shaft 11 and the lap-rollers from the same shaft through bevel-gearing and shafts 21, 24.
