474,969. Pistons. JUNKERS FLUGZEUG - UND - MOTORENWERKE AKT.- GES. July 12, 1937, No. 19273. Convention date, Aug. 24, 1936. [Class 122 (i)] In a piston having a crown plate 2 of a metal of lower heat conductivity, the plate, which makes contact with the piston body in a marginal zone only, has a flat marginal portion 2a and a central dome 2b of less thickness. The crown is secured by bolts 3 extending through ribs 16 in the body, the under side of each bolt head and its seating surface being of spherical form. The plate and the piston body may be formed with recesses in the contacting faces to reduce the heat conducting surface to a minimum. Specification 356,599 is referred to.
