[Class 83 (iii)] Spindle mounting.-In an automatic rotary-spindle screwmachine, the rotary spindle 3 for carrying the stock rods is supported by two spaced sets of cylindrical roller bearings 8, 9, and close to each set is one or more sets of ball thrust bearings 10, 10<1> The spacing of the sets of ball bearings is such as to provide for the indexing gear therebetween. The rotary spindle 3 has slidable means therein for clamping a stock rod. As shown, the front set of roller bearings comprises two spaced roller bearings 8. Each spindle of a multiple spindle machine may be mounted by means of the bearing arrangement according to the invention.
