Abstract
473,306. Articulated vehicles. MAXWELL, MANNERS, & PRING, Ltd., and CROXSON, E. C. S. April 9, 1936, No. 10553. [Class 79 (iii)] [Also in Groups XV and XXXII] Twin trucks a, a<1> in an amusement passenger train travelling on a sinuous track are connected by a coupling which allows relative swinging movement of the trucks in a horizontal plane and also relative lateral rocking movement, but restrains relative fore-and-aft tilting movement. The coupling comprises two bars d each connected to a truck frame by a vertical pivot pin e, the bars having end circular flanges d<1> held face to face by a split coupling ring h. Each truck has a tub body k which is rotated on rollers m while the train is in motion by a rubber flange o on the tub engaging a rail o<1> at the side of the track. The trucks may be guided by rollers p engaging rails p<1>, which may serve also as conductors for the electric current for the driving-motor r.
