Abstract

741,242. Single-rail vehicles and vestibules therefor. ALWEG FORSCHUNG GES., [formerly VERKEHRSBAHN-STUDIENGES]. April 7, 1953 [April 5, 1952], No. 9359/53. Class 103 (4). A railway train consists of two or more vehicles for monorail systems, each vehicle being formed with lateral curved depending portions which straddle a beam-shaped supporting structure and being provided with a vestibule part including resilient elements conforming to the contour of the vehicle. As shown, the vestibule joining two adjacent vehicles is in two parts each part comprising a frame f provided with longitudinal resilient elements g which are covered by a flexible skin h preferably of rubber or similar material. The end remote from the frame f is supported by a member i provided on the vehicle. The frame f has a transverse bar k provided with brackets l which may be connected by locking device p to pivoted members m secured to the adjacent vehicle. These members support the adjacent half of the vestibule when two vehicles are being uncoupled, but when the vehicles are coupled together the halves of the vestibule are connected together at several points o, and the members m may then be released from the brackets l and swung aside. In a modification the vestibule comprises three parts the centre part being provided with door openings for passengers' use.
