Abstract

140,095. Wagner, R. Jan. 25, 1919, [Convention date]. Suspended vehicles. -The body a, Fig. 1, of a suspended railway vehicle running on a double track is supported from the bogies c by means of pins g connected to the centre-piece of a cardan or like flexible joint situated above or substantially at the raillevel so as to permit the body to swing laterally owing to centrifugal force when rounding a curve, and also to adjust itself to any track irregularities. Coil springs g' may be arranged between the cardan joint and the frame of the bogie to absorb vertical shocks. When all the wheel pairs of the bogies are flanged or the rails are provided with guiding flanges, the pins g are arranged in their supports so as to rotate about a vertical axis, thus allowing the bogies to turn relatively to the body on a curve. As an alternative, the bogies may be prevented from pivoting on the pins g, in which case only one pair of wheels of each bogie is provided with flanges, or, if the rails are flanged, one pair of wheels is fixed while the other pair or pairs are capable of lateral displacement. In a modified construction, shown in Fig. 4, the bogie frame e is supported by four pairs of wheels, adjacent pairs having equalizing levers l connecting the supporting springs. In a further modification, Fig. 6, the body is supported from double levers n connected at their extremities by cardan joints with bogie frames m supported by springs and equalizing levers o.
