Abstract

473,196. Circular looms. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd., and POOL, W. April 7, 1936, No. 10177. [Classes 142 (i) and 142 (ii)] Faulty shedding is detected by means of a finger 18 which is pivoted on a plate 12 on the shuttle and is caused by a spring 21 to contact with one of the warp sheets. On encountering a space therein, the finger moves so that its opposite end 24 engages the other warp sheet. Owing to the relative movement between the shuttle and warp, the finger 18 and plate 12 are then moved so as to actuate a stopmotion. Two fingers 17, 18 acted upon by one or separate springs may be used, and the plate 12 may be carried by a warp jam detector 2 which is moved rearwardly when a warp jam occurs so that a rod 6 operates an arm 26 of a switch controlling the driving mechanism of the loom, the detector 2 being also moved, in the present case, when warp threads are missing from one of the warp sheets. The warps may be stationary, the shuttles rotating, or the warps may rotate, the shuttles being stationary or rotating in the opposite direction.
