Abstract
471,210. Cable-end sleeves; junction boxes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and RICHARDS, S. W. March 9, 1936, No. 7030. [Classes 36 and 38 (i)] A mechanical connection permitting the passage of a conductor from a flame - proof chamber 1, such as a cable sealing gland, to another flame-proof chamber, not shown, comprises a tubular member 6 through which the conductor passes and which is formed in one with the chamber 1. A sleeve 9 is rotatably mounted on the member 6, its inner surface making a flame-proof joint with the member 6 and its outer surface being screw-threaded for engagement with a complementary threaded part of the second chamber. The sleeve is retained on the member 6 either by a split ring 11 or by screws which are screwed into the projecting end portion of the member 6. After connection of the two chambers, the sleeve 9 is locked against rotation by a nut 14 which screws on a threaded portion of the tubular member 6 and which is adapted to bridge electrically the sliding surfaces of the sleeve and the member 6.
