[Class 78 (i)] For returning spillage caught by the lower return run of a belt conveyer to the top conveying run, an auxiliary endlessbelt conveyer is provided adjacent the tension drum of the main conveyer. The auxiliary conveyer 8 passes over a driving roller on an extension of the shaft of the tension drum 3, and is deflected by a pulley 10 to rise up a slope parallel to a portion of the return run of the main conveyer 1 which is snubbed by a roller 2 to pass over a plate 4. The rising part of the conveyer 8 bears on a plate 11 which preferably forms the bottom of a deep-sided trough, and on reaching the level of the top run of the conveyer 1 passes round a pulley 12, which may be adjustable, to reach its driving roller by way of a spacing pulley 13. A plough 5 lies over the downward sloping portion of the return run 1 and pushes the spillage thereon through an opening in the conveyer frame 7 on to the conveyer 8. A horizontal plough 51 may be added to supplement the plough 5. A plough 15 transfers the material from the conveyer 8 through another hole in the frame 7 on to the top run of conveyer 1, and any fines passing the plough 15 fall on a shoot 18 transferring them to the bottom run of conveyer 1. A deflector 17 also ploughs on to this run any material getting between the conveyer 8 and the plate 11 and dragged up to fall on the bottom run of conveyer 8. The belt of conveyer 8 is preferably narrower than that of conveyer 1, and its driving roller is approximately of the same diameter as the drum 3 and is connected to its shaft by a non-return ratchet. The upward slope of the conveyer 8 may rise above the level of the top run of conveyer 1, and the spillage be transferred from the higher portion without employing a horizontal stretch immediately preceding the pulley 12.
