Abstract
470,085. Valve amplifying and generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., RUST, N. M., and GOODENOUGH, E. F. Feb. 8, 1936, No. 3929. [Class 40 (v)] In an electron discharge device correction for distortion caused by the curvature of a quadratic characteristic is obtained by feeding back voltage from the common branch of a push-pull pair of similar devices. The Figure shows a two-stage amplifier employing pentodes and provided with reaction by the cathode impedances 43 and the adjustable resistance 44. Correction voltage is adjustably fed from resistance 36 in the common cathode lead of the push-pull pair 23, 24. The electron discharge devices may alternatively be triodes or electron beam valves. The invention is also applicable to audio-frequency amplifiers and to oscillators for producing oscillations free from harmonics.
