Abstract

468,385. Knitting-machines. HILSCHER, G, [Firm of]. Jan. 2, 1936, Nos. 180 and 181. Convention dates, Jan. 9, 1935, and July 2, 1935. [Class 74 (ii)] The thread carriers of a flat-frame knitting- machine are driven from the slur-cock bar 1 by means of a chain 4, attached at the points 2, 3 and passing over wheels 5 .... 10. The portion of chain positioned between the wheels 6 and 7 carries a block 21 which slides in a slotted bracket 23 attached to the thread carrier driving bar. The wheels 5, 6 are mounted on a slide 11 while the wheels 7 ... 10 are mounted on a slide 12. The slides 11, 12 can be racked in and out to vary the traverse of the thread carriers. By continuously racking the slides 11, 12 inwards the thread carrier traverse can be gradually reduced to zero, the wheels 6, 7 being situated at different levels or otherwise arranged so that they can pass each other, if necessary. To prevent the chain from running slack when this occurs, the wheel 9 is mounted on one arm of a bell-crank the other end of which runs in a cam track 17 or is deflected by a stop. U.S.A. Specification 1,719,839 is referred to.
