Abstract
467,605. Signs. MORRISS, J. F. Dec. 21, 1935, Nos. 35435 and 35436. [Class 3 (ii)] In a sign of the kind built-up of characters in the form of flat rectangular structures a which are assembled edge to edge between a pair of plates g, h in register with apertures k in the plate g, each structure comprises a stencil b and translucent background sheets c, d all made of flexible material and enclosed between glass or like plates e, the whole being bonded together by a waterproof edging f, such as adhesive tape, and the plate g is provided with ribs and ledges i to maintain the structures in register with the apertures k. The sheets c, d may be white and red respectively, so that the characters appear white by reflected light and red by transmitted light. The sign may be supported in a frame l with a backing m. As applied to a vehicle number plate, Fig. 7, the sign may be supported in a frame o with a backing q serving as a reflector and housing lamps r, a stop signal al comprising a bonded structure similar to a being provided.
