Abstract

306,668. Maguire, B. Jan. 14, 1928. Signs; name and number plates.-Signs, particularly adaptable for use as number-plates on motor vehicles, comprise a backward metal stencil plate 2 with cut-out letters outlined in white, and backing screens 4, 5 of opal and coloured glass respectively, the whole being mounted at the front of a casing carrying a lamp 6 and reflector 7. The holes in the stencil plate may be filled by strips of celluloid or a glass stencil may be used with transparent letters formed thereon. The sign may be double-sided for viewing in opposite directions; and the casing may be utilized to carry an electric battery to illuminate the lamp.
