Abstract
379,385. Luminous signs or number plates. BLACKBURN, J., 3, Lincoln Street, Balne Lane, Wakefield, Yorkshire. Feb. 15, 1932, No. 14342/31. [Class 3 (ii).] An illuminated vehicle number plate or other sign comprises a plurality of separate cut-out stencils 10 held in position between plain or coloured sheets of light-transmitting material, the whole being assembled in a suitable frame. As shown, the stencils 10 are clamped between a front transparent sheet 11 and a rear opal sheet 12 within a frame assembly 8, 13, a casing containing a lamp and reflector being incorporated if desired ; alternatively the frame may be mounted together with a lamp on the mudguard of the vehicle. One of the stencils 10a may be adapted to serve as a red rear light, either by providing a coloured insert therein or else by colouring the corresponding part of the sheet 12. In a modification the frame is mounted below the ordinary rear light, which is open at the bottom and provided with a reflector to direct light on the sign.
