Abstract
466,643. Tyre - valve connectors. TURNER, W. Sept. 2, 1936, No. 23988. Addition to 465,264. [Class 99 (i)] A connector 4, Fig. 2, in permanent communication with a source of air under pressure, is coupled to a tyre-valve stem by one or more spring blades 1 each of which is secured at one end in a groove in a raised portion 4b of the connector body by the flange 6b of an end cap member 6. The other end of the blade-is bent for insertion through a slot 2 in the side of the connector, so as to project across the mouth of the latter, and is provided with an aperture 3 to receive the tyre-valve stem when it is pressed inwardly, the aperture having a fine edge 3a to engage a thread of the stem upon release of said blade. The connector locates a spring-pressed pressure retaining valve 9 and an integral tyre-valve unseating pin 9b, the valve 9 coacting with a resilient seat 8 against which the valve stem is pressed during the coupling operation. The connector may be used with a foot &c. pump in which case the valve 9 is preferably drilled axially; alternatively the valve is replaced by a spring-pressed sealing plunger 11, Fig. 4, having an unseating pin 12 and provided with an axial air passage 17, terminating in an outlet 17a.
