Abstract

284,180. Roscoe, C. Oct. 21, 1927. Check elastic valves. - A non- return valve particularly applicable for use as a suction valve on air compressors comprises a conical helical spring arranged to co-operate with a corresponding groove formed in a fixed seat. In the form shown in the Figure the seat 14 is clamped against the end of the cylinder 11 by a ring 22 engaging a flange 21 and has an outer frustro conical portion formed with a helical slot 17 and an inner cylindrical or conical part 13 adapted to support the casing 23 of the delivery valve. The piston has a tapered projection adapted to fill the cavity in the member 13. The spring 18 is anchored to the seat about halfway along its length by a clamp formed on a pin engaging a hole in the seat. The member 13 may carry to the stuffing-box for the piston rod. The valve seat may be formed integrally' with the piston.
