Abstract
534,109. Non-return valves. WEIR, Ltd., G. & J., and HILLIER, H. Dec. 23, 1939, No. 32835. [Class 135] A non-return valve particularly adapted for use with high-speed reciprocating pumps comprises a valve seat member presenting a plane seat and a plane faced valve disc 6 with a rear recess 7 and a stop member 10 which limits the lift of the valve disc. The member 10 contains a recess 9 which receives one end of a compression spring 8 the opposite end of which enters the recess in the valve disc and thus centralizes the valve disc on its seat. The stop for the suction valve is provided with passages 11 and is held in a recess in the pump casing by an extension of the valve seat. The stop for the delivery valve is formed on a screwed plug 17. In a modification the suction valve seat and stop are adapted to accommodate a series of valves. In another form eighteen suction valves are arranged to co-operate with seats on a hollow hexagonal seat carrying member. In this arrangement the stop members are formed on plugs similar to the plug 17.
