[Classes 18 and 133] A cover a for a basket &c. consists of flexible and waterproof material, e.g. indiarubber, and is provided with a skirt portion a<4> which grips the sides of the basket and with a central slot a<1> which allows of access to the contents and through which the basket handle b<1> can be passed. The slot a<1> terminates in cross slits or beaded apertures and it is covered by a hinged flap c. The skirt portion grips the sides of the basket due to its natural resiliency or to a shaped and beaded edge with which it is formed, or it may be held down by an elastic band secured as by adhesive or stitching at one point on the edge of the cover, or by a cord threaded through pairs of holes near the edge of the skirt. A tongue c<2> on the free edge of flap c is either tucked under the edge of the skirt or slipped under the band holding down the skirt. The flap c may also be held closed by a snap or sliding clasp fastener. The cover may be in two parts and have an oval, circular, or square area.
