Abstract
633,313. Hinges. GARSTIN & CO., Ltd., A., and WERFF, H. H. J., VAN DER. Feb. 23, 1948, No. 5340. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XVII] The hinge between the body 11 and the lid of a suitcase, travelling or like case is formed by a flap 16 of resilient material which is integral with the cover 8 of the lid, the flap being folded along the edge of the rim of the lid and being secured, as by stitching 17, to the part of the body of the case which is covered by the rim when the case is closed. The resilience of the flap 16 therefore tends to assist opening of the lid. The rim may be reinforced by a strip 9, and it may have a lining of the same material as the covering 8, which lining may be formed with a flap, similar to the flap 16, also secured to the body of the case by the stitching 17 so as to increase the opening torque due to the hinge. Opening of the lid may be limited by a strap 18.
