Abstract

571,891. Holdalls. SEBBA, J. Nov. 5, 1943, No. 18387. [Class 133] In a soft leather, stout canvas or like suitcase, holdall or the like, two co-operating lines of sliding clasp fastener elements 17, 18 fitted along the free edges of the lid 5 and the top 8 and ends 7 of the body respectively, are provided with two sliding clasps 20, which are brought close together when the bag is closed and are provided with holes 29 in their tabs to receive a padlock or other fastening device. As shown, two rectangular layers 2, 3 form the base 4, lid or front 5 and back of the bag, the top 8 and ends 7 being formed of two pieces 11, 12 with an interposed bitumen-jute stiffening sheet 10. The seam includes an interposed strip of material 13, the ends of a pair of internal straps 14 and a covering piece 16. The straps 14 are adapted to be buckled to a pair of straps secured at the junction of the base and back of the bag. The ends of the elements 17, 18 are sewn into leather pieces 19. The inside of the lid may be provided with a pair of pockets having a common closure flap secured by press-studs. The handles 25 are connected to reinforcing straps 26.
