[Class 135] A valve closure comprises a single beat lift valve mem ber 1 adapted to co operate with a tubular sealing washer 7 The washer is so ar ranged that when during a closing movement the valve member applies axial pressure to one end face of the washer, the washer rolls or curls in itself, the resistance offered to curling or rolling in conjunction with the pressure on the line resulting in a tight closure.
